May 15th and 16th, 2014 C.R. Onsrud invited potential clients to tour the Onsrud factory and learn about CNC machining centers and CNC routers.
The recently expanded offices, design, and manufacturing facility were all wide open for visitors to see how C.R. Onsrud inverted routers, routers and machining centers are designed, engineered, built, tested and finally supported. Representatives from a a wide range of industry partners were also on hand to answer questions, from vacuum pumps to tooling and software.
Machine production kept on rolling, so visitors were able to see 3 axis, 4 axis & 5 axis machining centers being built, tested and demonstrated. Machines that were a bare base one day suddenly had columns and a gantry the next day, and empty electrical cabinets suddenly had wires sprouting from them in the afternoon. Visitors had free run of the newly expanded manufacturing facility, and were encouraged to ask questions, and get straight answers from the people who actually design and build the machines.
Machine demo’s ranged from nesting furniture parts using roller hold-downs, to speed comparisons between small, medium and large machines, to heavy milling cuts in solid aluminum billet.
