Over the past few weeks I’ve talked to a few people about custom moulders, and each time I’ve brought up the example of Weinig building special moulders for making pencil crayons for the Faber-Castell company. I was lucky enough to see these machines on the Weinig moulders production line in Tauberbishofsheim Germany, but I have not been able to find any information on them since.
As you can imagine, properly holding the tiny parts that make up pencil crayons, keeping the tight tolerances required to keep the colors in the center of the crayons as well as having a smooth outside edge to each crayon would be very difficult on a standard moulder. To overcome these problems, Weinig designed special fences, bedplates, hold downs and feed system specifically for pencil crayons.
Weinig moulders have been used in a wide range of industries, cutting materials including wood, MDF, plastics, aluminium, composites, insulating materials and more. Weinig builds a wide range of machines for moulding production, and can customize machines for virtually any application.
